The Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority (BCSWA), in cooperation with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WV-DEP), is pleased to announce the Spring 2017 used tire collection event. The event will be held on Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th, 2017. The event will run from 9 am to 5 pm at the South Berkeley Recycling Center (SBRC) at 637 Pilgrim Street in Inwood. This event is open to any West Virginia resident with a valid driver's license. Participants may dispose of up to 10 tires, free of charge, per valid license. The 10 tire per license rule will be strictly enforced. The tires do NOT need to be removed from the rims. Waste haulers, non-West Virginia residents and businesses are not allowed to participate.
Each tire will be inspected by the BCSWA and WV- DEP staff prior to acceptance and both entities reserve the right to reject any tire not considered acceptable. The SBRC will also accept metal vehicle rims (without tires) for recycling. The tires will be placed in road trailers and sent to the “Tire and Rubber Inc.” tire monofill located in Lewis County, WV.
