Deer Carcass Collection

September 27, 2014 - December 31, 2014

The Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority (BCSWA) is pleased to announce the collection of deer carcasses from Berkeley County hunters. The program starts September 27, 2014 and will run through December 31, 2014.

Effective immediately, any hide, bone or other waste material from any legally harvested deer will be accepted for free at either the Grapevine Road Recycling Center or the South Berkeley Recycling Center. For the ease of handling, the material should be placed in one or more large paper "leaf" bags. The "leaf" bags can be purchased inexpensively at many area hardware and discount stores. Plastic bags used for material transportation can NOT be accepted at the recycling center. The Grapevine Road Recycling Center and the South Berkeley Recycling Center is open every Tuesday - Saturday; 9am to 5pm. The center closes on certain posted holidays.

As necessary, the material will transported to the Lyle C. Tabb Composting operation in Leetown, WV. This litter control program is an effort to increase recycling and reduce the littering and open dumping of deer carcasses along area roadways, creeks and streams.
